The yellow note
Have you received a yellow note on your windshield? There are two types of fees that can be issued for illegal parking, of any kind, with a vehicle. These are 'parkeringsanmärkning' (parking violation notice) or 'kontrollavgift' (control fee). A 'parkeringsanmärkning' is issued for illegal parking, of any kind, on a public street, and a 'kontrollavgift' is issued for illegal parking, of any kind, on private property. How to challenge these parking violation fines differs, and we have therefore compiled important information that you can read below on how you can challenge your fine.
You can determine which type of fee you’ve received by looking at the top of the yellow ticket on your windshield. It’s important to check which type of fee you’ve received, as the process for contesting each fee differs. We have therefore compiled important information on how to contest a fine and what you should consider before submitting a contestation.
Since September 1, 2025, we have a new processing system; therefore, it is important that you always check your yellow notice to see where you should contest your parking ticket so that you do so correctly.
We have also updated our payment details, and when you make a payment, we ask that you always check the payment information on the yellow notice to ensure you pay to the correct bank account.
If you are unsure or have questions, you are always welcome to contact us by phone or email.
Parkeringsanmärkning (parking violation notice)
If the ticket placed on your windshield says "Parkeringsanmärkning" (parking violation notice) at the top, it means the violation was issued on public land. If you have received a parking ticket that you wish to contest, you can do so by contacting the police through the page Challenging a parking fine on the Police website
Kontrollavgift (control fee)
If you've received a control fee for unauthorized parking on private property, you should contact the issuer of the control fee if you would like to contest the control fee. If you look at the bottom of the yellow note and it says Borås kommuns Parkerings AB, then we are the ones that issued the control fee. In that case you can contest the control fee with us. If the yellow note lists the name of another parking company, you need to contact that company. Contest a control fee issued by Borås kommuns parkerings AB.
Below, you can read about common situations that may lead to a kontrollavgift (control fee) being issued, but where the reasons are not sufficient for the payment obligation to be waived.
You paid for the parking but entered the wrong license plate number or area code.
As the driver of the vehicle, you are responsible for registering the correct vehicle in the parking app, payment machine, or via SMS parking. Even if you can later prove that you paid for the parking, the payment obligation of the kontrollavgift (control fee) cannot be waived if you entered the wrong license plate number.
You also cannot have the fee revoked if you accidentally entered or selected the wrong parking area.
You have a parking permit, but it was not visible on the windshield
The parking attendant must be able to easily see that the conditions for parking in the area are met. If a permit is required, the attendant must be able to verify that you have a valid permit for the location.
If you present your permit afterward, but it was not visible when the parking attendant was on site, this is not a valid reason for the kontrollavgift (control fee) to be waived.
You didn’t see the sign.
When you stop or park a vehicle, it is your responsibility to ensure that you follow the applicable rules and conditions for the location. This responsibility includes checking signage and having a good understanding of the parking regulations.
