The yellow note

Two types of fees can be issued for illegal parking, of any kind, with a vehicle. These are 'parkeringsanmärkning' (parking violation notice) or 'kontrollavgift' (control fee). A 'parkeringsanmärkning' is issued for illegal parking, of any kind, on a public street, and a 'kontrollavgift' is issued for illegal parking, of any kind, on private property. How to dispute these parking violation fines differs, and we have therefore compiled important information that you can read below on how you can dispute.

Kontrollavgift (control fee)

If you've received a control fee for unauthorized parking on private property, you should contact the issuer of the control fee. Before disputing your control fee with us, you need to ensure that we are the ones who issued it. Check the bottom of the ticket placed on your windshield—if it says "Borås kommuns Parkerings AB," we issued it. However, if it lists another parking company, you cannot dispute it with us.

Below, you can read about common situations that may lead to a kontrollavgift (control fee) being issued, but where the reasons are not sufficient for the payment obligation to be waived.

You paid for the parking but entered the wrong license plate number or area code.

As the driver of the vehicle, you are responsible for registering the correct vehicle in the parking app, parking machine, or via SMS parking. Even if you can later prove that you paid for the parking, the payment obligation of the kontrollavgift (control fee) cannot be waived if you entered the wrong license plate number.

You also cannot have the fee revoked if you accidentally entered or selected the wrong parking area.

You have a parking permit, but it was not visible on the windshield

The parking attendant must be able to easily see that the conditions for parking in the area are met. If a permit is required, the attendant must be able to verify that you have a valid permit for the location.

If you present your permit afterward, but it was not visible when the parking attendant was on site, this is not a valid reason for the kontrollavgift (control fee) to be waived.

You didn’t see the sign.

When you stop or park a vehicle, it is your responsibility to ensure that you follow the applicable rules and conditions for the location. This responsibility includes checking signage and having a good understanding of the parking regulations.

Parkeringsanmärkning (parking violation notice)

If the ticket placed on your windshield says "Parkeringsanmärkning" (parking violation notice) at the top, it means the violation was issued on public land. If you wish to dispute a parkeringsanmärkning (parking violation notice), you should contact the Swedish Police Authority via their website: polisen.se/parkeringsanmarkning.
